Hector Lepe,a Mexican jazz guitarist and composer currently based in Helsinki. Héctor started learning classical guitar as a teenager back in his hometown in Cuernavaca. Soon after this, he moved to Mexico City pursuing his interest in jazz music.
In 2013 Héctor moved to Helsinki and started his studies in Pop/jazz performance in Metropolia, University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki, until 2015 when he was accepted to the prestigious Jazz Department of the Sibelius Academy.
Héctor has quickly emerged as a promising guitarist from the new generation of musicians in the jazz scene in Finland. In 2017 he received the Erik Lindström grant for jazz musicians. He’s currently active in different projects such as Kadi Vija Trio, Aapo Heinonen Quintet, Musti Trio, and Toon Verheyen Quartet.
