Jazz nights at Lulu’s: Sami Leponiemi’s saxophone

Lulu’s jazz nights season and Sami Leponiemi – rapidly risen to the attention jazz star of the Finnish jazz scene. Leponiemi’s ruthless enthusiasm and activity in the field of music have aroused the interest of the public and many pioneers of jazz music.
In addition to jazz, Leponiemi is inspired by classical music, from which he draws for his composition and improvisation. Leponiemi’s open-minded attitude towards life is also an influential factor in his music. Leponiemi is currently studying at the Sibelius Academy’s jazz department under the direction of Kari Heinilä. During his studies, he has also been tutored by Jussi Kannaste and Jukkis Uotila.
Leponiemi has received recognition by winning 1st place in the Huittisten Hullu Puhallus Wind Instrument Competition 2017. Leponiemi can be heard in the ranks of the following bands: Peela, Sami Saari & Jazzpojat, Sointi Jazz Orchestra, Timo Brass Band, and jazz trio Sir Garrison.
